Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey)

1 cup fresh spinach, chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1 large egg

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Stuffing:

1 cup mozzarella cheese, cubed

For the Tomato Sauce:

2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

For Garnish:

Fresh basil, chopped

Extra grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped spinach, minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Form Meatballs: Take a small amount of the meat mixture (about a tablespoon) and flatten it in your palm. Place a cube of mozzarella cheese in the center and carefully fold the meat around it. Roll it into a ball. Repeat this process for the remaining mixture.

Prepare Sauce: In a saucepan, heat the marinara sauce over medium heat. Stir in the dried oregano and red pepper flakes, if using. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.

Bake Meatballs: Place the meatballs on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they are evenly browned and cooked through.

Combine with Sauce: After baking, transfer the meatballs to the saucepan with the marinara sauce. Let them simmer together for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Serve: Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with fresh basil and extra Parmesan cheese. Pair with spaghetti, garlic bread, or a fresh salad.
