Ingredients

1 cup creamy peanut butter

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 large egg

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped salted pretzels

1/4 cup heart-shaped sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper, letting it hang over the sides for easy removal later.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter, creamy peanut butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Use a hand mixer or whisk to blend until the mixture is creamy and well combined.

Add Egg and Vanilla: Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.

Mix Together: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not over mix. Fold in the dark chocolate chips and chopped salted pretzels to create a sweet and savory blend.

Spread in Pan: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool and Decorate: Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then use the parchment overhang to lift them out and place them on a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, top with heart-shaped sprinkles for a festive touch.

Cut and Serve: Cut into squares or bars and serve. Enjoy your sweet and savory treat, perfect for sharing with your loved ones on Valentine’s Day!
