2 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

½ cup vegetable oil

1 cup boiling water

For the Chocolate Ganache:

1 cup heavy cream

1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Chocolate Buttercream Frosting:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

3 ½ cups powdered sugar

½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

½ tsp salt

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

½ cup heavy cream (more if needed)

For Garnish:

Chocolate shavings or curls

Raspberries or strawberries, optional

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

      Prepare the Cake Batter:

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, and mix until combined. Gradually stir in the boiling water (the batter will be thin).

          Bake:

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.

              Make the Ganache:

In a saucepan over medium heat, heat the heavy cream until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips. Stir until melted and smooth. Let it cool until slightly thickened but still pourable.

                  Prepare the Buttercream Frosting:

In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and salt, mixing on low until combined. Add the vanilla and heavy cream, then increase the speed to medium-high and beat until fluffy. Adjust consistency with more cream if necessary.

                      Assemble the Cake:

Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of buttercream frosting on top, then drizzle over some ganache. Place the second layer of cake on top and frost the top and sides of the entire cake with the remaining buttercream.

                          Finish with Ganache:

Pour the cooled ganache over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides. Garnish with chocolate shavings and fresh berries if desired.

                              Chill and Serve:

For best results, refrigerate the cake for about 30 minutes to set the ganache before slicing. Serve and enjoy a rich, indulgent experience!
