Ingredients

For the Filling:

4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon cinnamon

2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)

1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

For the Crumble Topping:

1 cup rolled oats (gluten-free if needed)

½ cup almond flour (or whole wheat flour)

¼ cup chopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans)

¼ cup coconut oil (melted)

2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Apple Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, honey or maple syrup, and cornstarch if using. Mix until the apples are well coated, then transfer the mixture to a lightly greased 9-inch baking dish.

Make the Crumble Topping: In a separate bowl, mix together the rolled oats, almond flour, chopped nuts, melted coconut oil, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, salt, and cinnamon. Stir until everything is well combined and forms a crumbly texture.

Assemble the Dish: Evenly spread the crumble topping over the apple filling in the baking dish.

Bake: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the top is golden brown.

Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes. Serve warm, optionally topped with yogurt or a scoop of ice cream for a healthier dessert twist!
