Ingredients

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 cups broccoli florets

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Cooked rice or pasta, for serving (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: Start by rinsing the shrimp under cold water and patting them dry with paper towels. Trim the broccoli into bite-sized florets.

Blanch the Broccoli: In a medium pot of boiling salted water, blanch the broccoli florets for about 2 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Immediately transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Drain and set aside.

Make the Garlic Butter: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Sauté for about 30 seconds until the garlic is fragrant and lightly golden, being careful not to burn it.

Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet and season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.

Combine Shrimp and Broccoli: Once the shrimp are cooked, add the blanched broccoli to the skillet. Pour in the lemon juice and toss everything gently to combine, letting the flavors meld for another minute.

Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve the garlic butter shrimp and broccoli over cooked rice or pasta, if desired.
