Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or turkey

1 cup onion, diced

1 cup bell pepper, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup ketchup

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

4 large slices of thick-cut garlic bread (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or turkey. Cook until browned, breaking it into smaller pieces, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

Sauté Vegetables: Add the diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for 4-5 minutes until the vegetables have softened. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

Add Sauce Ingredients: Incorporate the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper into the skillet. Mix well and let simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Prepare Garlic Bread: While the mixture simmers, preheat your oven according to the instructions for the garlic bread. If homemade, prepare your garlic bread by spreading a mixture of butter, minced garlic, and parsley on the bread.

Toast Bread: Place the garlic bread on a baking sheet and toast it in the oven until golden and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. If you desire melted cheese, remove the garlic bread, sprinkle with cheddar cheese, and return to the oven until the cheese is bubbly.

Assemble Sloppy Joes: Spoon a generous amount of the sloppy joe mixture onto the toasted garlic bread slices.

Garnish and Serve: Top with fresh parsley for an added touch of flavor and color. Serve immediately while hot.
