Ingredients

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

4 cups turkey broth (homemade or store-bought)

1 cup pan drippings from roasted turkey (optional, but enhances flavor)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon dried thyme

Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

Melt the Butter: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until it’s bubbly but not browned.

Make the Roux: Add the flour to the butter and whisk continuously for about 2-3 minutes until the mixture turns a light golden brown, which will create a roux.

Add Broth: Gradually whisk in the turkey broth, making sure to remove any lumps. If using, also add the reserved pan drippings for added flavor.

Season: Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, and thyme. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Simmer: Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently. Allow it to cook for about 5-10 minutes, or until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.

Serve: Once thickened, remove from heat and serve over your favorite turkey, mashed potatoes, or biscuits. Enjoy!
