Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef

4 cups green cabbage, thinly sliced

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, grated

2 carrots, julienned

3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: Start by slicing the cabbage, onion, and carrots. Mince the garlic and grate the ginger. Having everything prepped ahead will make the cooking process smooth.

Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add Aromatics: Stir in minced garlic, grated ginger, and sliced onion to the beef. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent and fragrant.

Combine with Vegetables: Add the cabbage and carrots to the skillet. Stir well and cook for another 5-7 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender but still slightly crisp.

Add Seasonings: Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine all ingredients evenly. Let it cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through and allow flavors to meld.

Taste and Adjust: Taste the stir fry and adjust the seasoning as needed. You can add more soy sauce for saltiness or more red pepper flakes for spice.

Serve: Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy hot, either on its own or with steamed rice or noodles.
