1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1 large egg yolk

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon almond extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup jam (strawberry, raspberry, or your favorite)

Heart sprinkles (for decoration, optional)

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

      Add Egg Yolk and Extracts: Mix in the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.

        Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.

          Shape the Cookies: Using your hands, form the dough into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them on the prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.

            Create Heart Shapes: Using your thumb (or a heart-shaped cookie cutter), gently press down in the center of each dough ball to create a heart-shaped indentation.

              Fill with Jam: Spoon about 1/2 teaspoon of jam into each indentation, filling it generously.
