Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1/2 lb ground pork

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cups French onion soup (canned or homemade)

1 cup breadcrumbs

1 large egg

2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese

Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

Preheat your oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan.

Sauté onions: In a skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of olive oil and sauté the finely chopped onion until golden and caramelized, about 10-12 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly.

Mix the meatloaf: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, sautéed onions, French onion soup, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

Shape the meatloaf: Transfer the mixture to the prepared loaf pan and shape it into a loaf. Use the back of a spoon to smooth the top.

Add cheese: Spread the shredded Gruyère cheese evenly over the top of the meatloaf for a cheesy crust.

Bake: Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for 60-70 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C) and the top is golden and bubbly.

Rest and serve: Once done, let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
