Ingredients

1 pre-made 9-inch graham cracker pie crust

1 cup whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus extra for garnish)

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

3 tablespoons cornstarch

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Whipped cream for topping

Chocolate shavings or curls for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Filling: In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, 1/2 cup of the heavy cream, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt. Whisk until smooth and free of lumps.

Heat Mixture: Place the saucepan over medium heat and continue to whisk constantly until the mixture begins to thicken and bubble. This should take about 5-7 minutes.

Add Chocolate: Once the mixture is bubbling, remove it from the heat and immediately add the chocolate chips and vanilla extract. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the filling is smooth and glossy.

Cool the Filling: Pour the chocolate filling into the prepared graham cracker crust, smoothing the top with a spatula. Cover the pie with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours, or until set.

Whip the Cream: In a mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the remaining 1/2 cup of heavy cream on medium speed until soft peaks form. Gradually add a tablespoon of sugar (optional) and continue beating until stiff peaks form.

Serve: Once the pie is set, remove it from the refrigerator. Spread the whipped cream over the chocolate filling, and decorate with chocolate shavings or curls. Slice and serve chilled.
