Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or turkey

1 small onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup ketchup

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

4 large slices of garlic bread (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground meat. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Sauté Aromatics: Stir in the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent and fragrant.

Add Sauce Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture over the cooked meat and stir well to combine.

Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Prepare Garlic Bread: If using store-bought garlic bread, follow package instructions to heat. If making homemade, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C), spread garlic butter on each slice, and toast until golden brown.

Assemble: Once your garlic bread is ready, spoon a generous portion of the sloppy joe mixture over each slice.

Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the meat mixture on each slice, then return them to the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Garnish: Remove from the oven and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.

Serve: Slice each cheesy garlic bread sloppy joe in half and serve while hot, pairing with your favorite side dish or a refreshing salad.
