Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

3 cups broccoli florets

1 bell pepper (red or yellow), sliced

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

2 teaspoons cornstarch

3 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced

Cooked jasmine rice, for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced scallions for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and half of the minced garlic and ginger. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15-30 minutes.

Blanch the Broccoli: In a pot of boiling salted water, add the broccoli florets and cook for about 2 minutes until bright green. Drain immediately and transfer to an ice bath to stop cooking. Set aside.

Prepare the Stir-Fry Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and remaining cornstarch. Set this sauce aside.

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes without stirring until browned, then stir-fry for another minute until cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced bell pepper, remaining garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the bell peppers are tender-crisp.

Combine Everything: Return the cooked beef to the skillet, add the blanched broccoli, and pour in the stir-fry sauce. Toss everything together to coat and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and everything is heated through.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat, garnish with sesame seeds and sliced scallions. Serve hot over a bed of cooked jasmine rice.
